Spiritual Entrepreneur Stories: Homeboy Industries

Father Greg Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries is an amazing example of a Spiritual Entrepreneur.

In 1988 Father Greg founded Homeboy Industries after becoming the pastor of the poorest Catholic parish in Los Angeles. The parish not only included the largest public housing projects west of the Mississippi, but also had the highest concentration of gang activity. Homeboy Industries is a non-profit that has created and operates it's own job training businesses. It has almost a dozen social enterprises which is used both for training clients as well as revenue to support the mission.

Homeboy Industries has evolved into the largest gang intervention, rehab and re-entry program in the world. Case management, education and legal services, tattoo removal, mental health and substance services and workforce development are just some of the amazing services offered.

"We work with the population that nobody desires to work with,

and it's a principle of this place that we stand with them."

Father Greg
